Creating a brand new website experience for Special Olympics Kansas
The Special Olympics Kansas provides programs for their athletes both inside and outside of athletics. Besides sports, their programs help develop social skills, self-esteem, confidence, and more. Learn more about how we helped them with a new website experience that catered to all of their audiences.
Special Olympics Kansas approached Twofold with the need for a new website that could be used by their athletes, parents, coaches, and more.
Before beginning the project, we took the time to understand what problems their old website wasn’t solving for their users, and how a new website experience could solve those problems.
Then we asked the big question: how do we create a unique website experience for each audience member and make sure that, no matter what type of visitor landed on soks.org, that they were able to easily find what they were looking for?
From an old version of WordPress on an outdated theme, to a brand new, fully custom built theme-less website.

As always – the research and design is the foundation that supports all greater initiatives. We started with a website brand board, information architecture, and website brand board before we started developing any content.
Every design goes through multiple revisions to ensure client happiness with the new direction. During this phase, we also establish all H1-H6 fonts, button styles, font pairings, and favicons/logos to ensure that once we do start development, all of the pieces are place for a full website buildout.
Custom Post Types & Resources Listing Engine
Special Olympics Kansas has an abundance of resources for all of their audience members. We created a custom listing engine with AJAX filtering to make finding resources easy for any user.
Special Olympics Kansas hosts multiple events every year including torch runs, polar plunges, state competitions, and more.
We created unique experiences for their events, including fully custom headers & footers depending on what segment of the site they are on. For Polar Plunge, we created a fully dynamic location post type, where all event information is stored in the back-end and dynamically displays on the front end. This made for easy changes for their team, without having to design on the front-end.

The final step, and our favorite - the website launch.
