01. Plan
How We Defined the End-User Experience
02. Design
Custom Designs & UI/UX Experiences
The design process focused on warmth, accessibility, and cultural richness. We aimed to reflect the heart of Missouri Humanities — storytelling, education, and connection — in every page. Each of the 75+ pages received its own tailored layout and messaging, built on a clean, modern design system that allowed for flexibility and future growth. The visual language prioritized legibility and emotional resonance, using custom photography, event highlights, and content blocks to guide users through a meaningful experience across all devices.
03. Development
Custom Built and Responsive on All Devices
We developed the Missouri Humanities site from the ground up on a fully custom WordPress framework. This included building reusable content modules, a custom post type and archive for their blog and storytelling features, and a backend system that made it easy for their internal team to manage events, resources, and program updates. We also rolled out a global design system, complete with a custom header, footer, and mobile menu that ensured a consistent and intuitive experience sitewide.
04. Launch
A New Website Experience
For launch, we replaced the legacy site with our new build, taking care to preserve search engine equity with a comprehensive redirect strategy. We connected the site to Google Analytics 4 and Search Console, implemented ReCaptcha v3 for form protection, activated SSL for secure browsing, and ran final QA to ensure every page loaded seamlessly. The new site positions Missouri Humanities to share their story, inspire participation, and expand their reach across the state and beyond.
