The Challenge
Bar K isn’t your average dog park — it’s a fully immersive social experience combining a dog-friendly bar, restaurant, event space, and off-leash park across three major cities. They needed a website that could keep up with that energy while managing 200+ custom-designed pages, location-specific content, and a robust digital infrastructure. Our task was to design and build a site that captured Bar K’s one-of-a-kind vibe while supporting their growing multi-location business. From memberships and merch to food menus and events, the site needed to be as versatile as it was fun.

01. Plan
How We Defined the End-User Experience
We began by diving into the heart of Bar K’s mission — creating joyful experiences for people and their pups. Our planning phase focused on mapping the unique user journeys of pet owners exploring amenities, signing up for memberships, shopping for branded gear, or attending local events in Kansas City, St. Louis, or Oklahoma City. We worked closely with their team to define a scalable structure that allowed content to flex per location while staying consistent with the Bar K brand. This included planning for a member portal, custom event system, and online ordering features.
02. Design
Custom Designs & UI/UX Experiences
Bar K’s personality is vibrant, social, and dog-obsessed — so the design needed to be bold and engaging while still offering clarity and structure. Every one of the 200+ pages received its own layout to best serve the content, whether it was promoting a city-specific event, showcasing food and drink menus, or guiding visitors through the membership signup process. We built a modular design system full of playful elements, strong calls to action, and clear visual hierarchy — designed to delight dog lovers while keeping things easy to navigate.
03. Development
Custom Built and Responsive on All Devices
We custom-built the site on a scalable WordPress framework with full support for multi-location functionality. Features included a custom post type for events, an integrated member account portal, and full e-commerce support for Bar K’s merchandise and gift cards. We also developed dynamic food and drink menus that could be managed per location, and embedded social integrations to keep each community engaged and informed. A custom header, footer, and mobile menu were rolled out sitewide to ensure a consistent, high-quality user experience on every device.
04. Launch
A New Website Experience
The launch included deploying all three city-specific versions of the site, fully optimized for search, performance, and mobile. We connected the site to Google Analytics 4 and Search Console, activated SSL, integrated ReCaptcha v3, and ensured all event listings, membership systems, and e-commerce flows were functioning flawlessly. With a bold new online presence, Bar K now has the digital infrastructure to match their explosive growth — and a website as fun, flexible, and dog-friendly as the brand itself.
