The Challenge
BARK U is more than a dog daycare — it’s a full-service destination for training, grooming, boarding, and daycare with a growing reputation and clientele. They needed a website that could keep up with their expanding services, locations, and customer expectations. We were brought in to design and build a custom site from the ground up, totaling 75+ pages. The site needed to be educational, engaging, and conversion-focused — with support for a customer portal, dynamic service area pages, blog, team bios, events, and even AI-powered chat support. Our challenge was to create a seamless digital experience that gave pet parents confidence and clarity from the first click.

01. Plan
How We Defined the End-User Experience
We started by learning what mattered most to BARK U’s audience: convenience, trust, and care. Whether a customer was searching for training, boarding, or grooming, the path needed to be frictionless. We mapped key user flows for different personas — new dog owners, returning clients, and prospective team members — and developed a scalable content strategy to support searchability, local landing pages, and service clarity. We also scoped the integration of an AI chatbot to assist with FAQs, booking, and support.
02. Design
Custom Designs & UI/UX Experiences
The design system combined friendly, pet-loving visuals with a polished and professional layout. Every page — from core services to careers to community events — was individually designed to be intuitive, action-oriented, and easy to digest. Visual elements reflected BARK U’s upbeat and energetic brand, while the structure made it simple for users to find information quickly. We used purposeful color, welcoming photography, and clean typography to create trust while showcasing the vibrant atmosphere of BARK U locations.
03. Development
Custom Built and Responsive on All Devices
Built on a fully custom WordPress framework, the BARK U site includes advanced content flexibility, custom post types, and integrations. We developed custom systems for blog posts, team bios, events, service areas, and careers — allowing the internal team to easily update and manage content. A secure customer portal was built to support client access and account management. We also integrated an AI chatbot to assist users in real-time and connected the site with social platforms for deeper engagement. A custom global header, footer, and mobile menu were implemented for consistency and navigation ease across devices.
04. Launch
A New Website Experience
The launch included deploying over 75 polished pages, setting up location-specific landing pages optimized for local search, and testing all key functions including chatbot support, event listings, and the customer portal. We configured Google Analytics 4 and Search Console, secured the site with SSL, and implemented ReCaptcha v3 to protect form submissions. With a bold and user-friendly new site, BARK U now has the platform it needs to lead the pack in pet care — online and off.
