OVERVIEW
The Challenge
Pigwich is a beloved River Market destination known for bold sandwiches, local flavor, and a loyal following of Kansas City food lovers. Their website needed to reflect that same energy while making it easy for visitors to explore the menu, discover the brand, and stay connected. We were tasked with designing and building a custom WordPress site with 55+ pages, each individually designed before development, along with a custom product post type for menu items. The challenge was to create a site that captured Pigwich’s unique character while giving the business a flexible, easy-to-manage platform for content and menu updates.

01. Plan
How We Defined the End-User Experience
We started by understanding the different ways customers interact with Pigwich — from River Market visitors looking for a quick lunch stop to barbecue enthusiasts seeking out a memorable local favorite. Our planning focused on shaping a site that could serve both audiences with clarity and style. We mapped the key content needs around menu visibility, brand storytelling, and overall site flow, making sure the experience felt simple and intuitive while still leaving room for the personality that makes Pigwich stand out.
02. Design
Custom Designs & UI/UX Experiences
The design direction was centered on energy, appetite appeal, and local character. Every page was custom designed to feel vibrant, approachable, and distinctly Pigwich. We used bold imagery, strong hierarchy, and a layout system that made menu exploration easy while still keeping the brand front and center. The visual experience was crafted to feel modern and polished, but never overly corporate — striking the right balance between restaurant personality and digital usability.
03. Development
Custom Built and Responsive on All Devices
We developed the site on WordPress with a custom front-end and a tailored backend built around Pigwich’s content needs. A custom product post type was created for menu items, allowing the internal team to manage offerings in a structured and scalable way. The build emphasized flexibility and performance, giving Pigwich a site that could evolve alongside the business. Every design detail was thoughtfully translated into code, creating a consistent and engaging experience across all devices.
04. Launch
A New Website Experience
The launch delivered Pigwich a polished, high-performing website that better reflects the food, atmosphere, and personality people love about the brand. The finished site makes it easy for users to browse the menu, learn more about the restaurant, and engage with the Pigwich experience before they ever step through the door. With a stronger digital presence in place, Pigwich now has a site that works just as hard as the team behind the counter.
